Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM
9 out of 10 points and recommendedGreat bang for the buck, fast quiet focusThis is the best bang for the buck for the range it is in.

This is the first lens I put on my 30D, purchased this as opposed to getting the kit lens. (purchased @ B&H)
It's the best from Canon coming out of the 28-105mm's.
The cheaper EF 28-105mm f/4-5.6 USM is not worth it.
The EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is too much money compared to this one. And if you're thinking about EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, you might as well buy the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, and get a bigger tele zoom. -
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
10 out of 10 points and recommendedGreat zoom with 1.6 crop bodies, fast focusing, not that heavyThis is one of the lens my university's newspaper owns. I attend St. John's Univ. in NYC and we're a Division I school. I get to use this as a photographer for the Torch, our school paper. It's fast and not too heavy, fast enough and the 2.8 is a must for sports such as soccer.
