Pentax 50mm f/1.4 SMC P-FA
9 out of 10 points and recommendedfrom 1.8 sharp, from 2.4 really sharp, solid constructed, fast AFsoft and CA at 1.4, not WRI bought this lens for my K5II for portrait shots, its really usable in all aspects, even at 1.4 the images are good, contrast is a bit low and it cut look like it is a bit foggy, can be put in use greatly! betweens F2 and 8 pictures are really sharp, rich in contrast and all in all really good! if you dont have one, get one, its always a usefull lens!

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical IF SP AF
10 out of 10 points and recommendedvery (!) sharp, AF-Speed ok, 2.8not WR, somwhat heavy and bigI think this is the best lens to start with if you are new in photograpie! it is much better than any kit lens, it is not that expensive and you will get such a good image quality! If yours isnt tha sharp or has a front/backfocus problem you can send it to tamron, they will fix it and its worth the wait (of ap 8 days).

I used it with a Canon 400d (AF Speed was ok) and now i have settled over to Pentax K5II (AF speed is much faster than with canon 400d) and bought it again, both lenses where perfect from the start!
The only disadvantages are the weight and that its not weather sealed.
