  • Sony FE 28mm f/2 SEL28F20

10 out of 10 points and recommended
Excellent sharpness and image quality on a Sony a6500
Distortion and other issues at the edges on a full frame Sony a7 camera.

The problems with this lens are on the full-frame Sony a7 cameras. Most of the issues occur at the edges of the frame. Therefore it is not a great lens on a full-frame camera. But on a crop sensor camera like the Sony a6500, this is really a very good lens. On that camera it provides a 42mm full frame equivalent focal length which is perfect as an all around carry anywhere lens. It stands between a 50mm and a 35mm focal length. I have been getting very sharp images with excellent color rendition. It is far superior to the Sony e mount 35mm 1.8 OSS on the a6000 series cameras. (I used to have the 35mm OSS, which was good but not as good as the Sony fe 28mm). It is about the same price as the Sony 35 e mount. If you are looking for a wide-normal lens for a Sony a6000 (especially the a6500, which has IBIS built into the body) this is a great affordable lens especially for street photography and everyday shooting. I have had the lens for 3 months and it is now the only lens I use on my Sony a6500.
