    Fastest 300mm in the planet. Faster than Vr I tested. Same image quality
    No But all 300mm 2.8 lenses are heavy this is heavy too but lightest in this class. or buy 300 f4 or 200mm lens

    for sport photographer who need max speed first lens to buy update yourself to pro level
    Other can buy D4s .
    I prefer this lens over vr and D4s over D5

    The best 300mm lens ever for sport also outdoor portrait.
    I don't use monopod taking 5000 + photos in a marathon event in 3 hrs non stop.

    I lost my 300mm f4d lens . It is excellent lens but not fast as this 2.8 also not bright as this lens.
    180 2.8 and 300 f4 2 other perfect lenses I ever used.

    I got this lens from my friend he paid 1500 usd . we bought vr for him. 2900 usd Vr
    Actually when he bought this lens he asked me which lens can I buy i said 300mm f2.8 d II
    after in real life test this is even better than 300 vr for sport.
    That is good who want latest model and vr
    We test both lens, I saw but I couldn't say anything him.
    He tested said your lens faster. ( like %30 fast because very easy to see faster )
    Image quality everything same
    this lens lighter , %50 cheaper and faster.
    What newest vr shoot i can shoot same even faster .
    Someone want to buy latest model i can not stop them if like to pay 2x
    I never use Vr . So I don't need. I care results.Because I am selling my photos.

    Vr other story . if your lens slow f4 + lenses you can buy vr lens better for portrait or landscape photos.For sport vr on makes problem. I am professional Marathon Photographer. Marathon, car racing , motorcycle and football , also portrait and birding I shoot.

    If you don't have this much money just reading review for buy a lens , even you don't have money for buy 70-200 f2.8 . my other best super fast and light lens is Af 180mm 2.8 I bought under 300 usd . U need 3 lenses all your life 16-28 tokina ( or 20-35 tokina cheaper ) 180mm 2.8 300mm f2.8

    very fast very light perfect optic perfect colors than all other lenses full professional sport lens. some reviews said Af slow. fast or faster than Nikon 70-200 vr II U have to check your camera setting set off your focus tracking.

    I shot this lens and 300mm f2.8
    I checked results. I thought I shot with 300mm .2.8
    I shocked it was 180mm 2.8 .
    I love this lens ( for giving idea ) my first lens for buy .
    After i buy 180mm second lens have to buy 300 f4d my last lens have to buy 300 2.8 dII for sport

    buy this lens under 300 usd. vs 70-200 f2.8 vr Fl

    save money buy 300mm f4d ( 500 usd used ) + 16-35 vr or 16-28 tokina (300 usd used ) + 180mm f2.8 ( under 300 usd )

    So for 1 lens price you can make your full professional full distance set.
    If you have so much money what you buy u can not get better faster photos than this sets.

    I shoot marathon photos , car racing , motorcycle racing , football and birding.

    fast af perfect image quality perfect bokeh better than any 2.8 lenses lightest pro 300mm lens not heavy for professionals . best buy full professional sport lens
    f4 fast af but not world fastest (but still faster than 70-200 vr II)

    f4 can be problem for very low light but not much outdoor sport events ( wait 15 mins can get better sunlight )
    But even use f2.8 u can not take easy low light photos just effect 15 min before sunrise.
    U need fast body like d4s d500 can get %50 better af speed.
    if you never shoot sunrise time no need 2.8 .

    No any 2.8 lenses can give better bokeh and better image result than this 300mm d4d lens.

    Lens perfect . I lost this lens got gift from my friend 300mm f2.8 dII ( 300 2.8 dII even faster than vr model )

    Actually my prefer 300mm d4d for marathon events because i can easy shoot without monopod . Still now im am using 2x heavy 300mm 2.8d II without monopod. taking 5000+ marathon phoots in 3-4 hrs . need practice

    u can buy 3 sport lenses economic and best results
    without think i buy first 180mm 2.8 no 70-200
    then i buy 300 f4d
    then buy again 300 2.8dII .I dont buy vr for sport. even dIi faster i test

    1 Af 180 mm 2.8 very fast lens under 800gr super light
    2 Afs-300mm f4 not for very low light shots 1340 hr etc
    3 Af-s 300mm 2.8 top pro . 2 x heavy than 300mm more than 2600 gr etc
