Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
10 out of 10 points and recommendedSuperb image quality, fast focus, quality constructionHeavyImage quality on par with prime lenses. This is my primary walkaround lens. Along with the 70-200L IS, it makes a perfect package.

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
8 out of 10 points and recommendedUseful IS function, good build quality, execellent all around lensOptional Lens hood, no carry bag/case, prone to dust in elementsExcellent image quality when stepped down. A combination of features makes this lens a great walk around lens. When mounted on a 1.6 cropped DSLR, its focal length may not be as useful as when used on a film or full frame DSLR.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
8 out of 10 points and not recommendedUseful focal length, excellent constructionLarge, heavy, not the sharpest option Canon providesI couldn't get use to the push-pull zoom and the friction ring control always got into the way when attempting manual focus adjustments. Image quality not as sharp as the 70-200 zooms, 300mm and 400mm primes.

On the other hand, a 2x tele-converter would give this lens the option of a 100-800mm reach, 160-1280mm on a 1.6x DSLR. -
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
9 out of 10 points and recommendedExcellent image quality, quality construction, light weight, affordableLens hood does not fit tightlyExcellent lens of its price. A very affordale alternative to the 16-35mm when willing to sacrifice one stop. This lens can produce exceptional images with great sharpness and color contrast.

17mm very wide on film or FF, not wide enough on my 10D. -
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
10 out of 10 points and recommendedexcellents image quality, professional quality constructionOptional lens hood, pricyProfessional quality macro lens. Sharper than L series zooms. This lens proves to a be a workhorse for me, both macro work and normal shoot. Focus is very sensitive.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
8 out of 10 points and recommendedLight, fast, sharploose focus rignOne of my favorite lenses, it's fast, light, and superb image quality. Slightly soft at 1.4 and super sharp from 2.0 on. The focus ring is loose and focus is not as fast as L primes.
