Digital Photography Review posts rumored Canadian street pricing for the company's first (and much anticipated) low-cost digital SLR...

Our friends at the Digital Photography Review website have today posted news attributed to an unspecified "source at Nikon Canada" suggesting that pricing for the D100 SLR digital camera in that country will be CAD$3,350. According to live rates from the Universal Currency Converter as of the time of this writing, that would translate to approximately US$2098.41 - just a hair shy of US$2100.

If this information turns out to be accurate, it could well be indicative of US pricing, which would put Nikon about $100 below Canon's pricing for the EOS D60 digital camera. We'd not be surprised to see an adjustment occur there once the D100 reaches the market, if this is the case...

UPDATED 2002-04-08 16:44ET: We've now independently heard confirmation from Nikon Canada that the expected street price for the D100 SLR digital camera will be CAD$3,350. Note that this is not the MSRP, which we're told will be announced about 30 days before the camera is sheduled to ship. (Currently, the camera is slated to ship in early summer 2002...)
