Sony Releases Five New Cyber-shots By
Mike Pasini, The Imaging Resource (Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 20:50 EDT)Sony announced the DSC-W1, DSC-P100 and DSC-P73 Cyber-shots at PMA this year, but when they unveiled them today they added two more models.
The sleek 5.1-Mp DSC-T11 ($544) and the stubby 4.1-Mp DSC-P43 ($281) join their previously announced cousins, all of which feature Sony's Real Imaging Processor and support for PictBridge printing directly from the camera.
The DSC-T11 uses a large 2.5-inch hybrid LCD for easier daylight viewing, in addition to a 3x folding optical zoom that allows the form factor to be unusually compact.
The DSC-T11 is an ultra-compact version of Sony's DSC-T1. The thin design is complemented by a 2.5-inch large LCD. A large, chrome strap hook sets off the left side of the body whose glossy paint gives it a simple and elegant finish.
Its 2.5-inch LCD makes it easier to see detail in Record or Playback mode. And it helps when navigating menus. The hybrid reflection-plus-penetration LCD makes the monitor more visible in strong outdoor sunlight, too.
The high-resolution Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens sports a folding deisgn. The 3x zoom lens minimizes distortion while delivering high contrast.
The new P-series DSC-P43 features a 4.1-Mp (effective) CCD, 30-fps Movie mode and 3x digital zoom.
Sony has not announced plans to launch the models in either the European or American markets.
