PRESS RELEASE: ViewMinder now offers better handling of large picture collections

The new version of ViewMinder, for organizing and managing digital pictures, is better than ever at handling today's large image collections. Version 2 will be available later this month (August 2004).

The program consists of an image editor, a browser, a metadata editor, a database and a search engine. The browser can display pictures by date or by group. The metadata editor can record more detailed information about how and where the pictures were created and what they show.

Version 2 allows users to browse collections of many thousands of images without suffering the performance slow-downs that affect most image organizers. ViewMinder also keeps track of picture usage, as well as letting photographers tag exported pictures with the author's name and contact information.

ViewMinder Version 2 can be purchased on-line from http://www.viewminder.com. Owners of Version 1 can upgrade at no charge.

The trial edition of the program, Genus ViewMinder, will continue to be available free from Tucows and CNet. There are no trial time restrictions on Genus ViewMinder but collection size is limited to 250 images.
