Nikon USA announces Coolpix 3200, 8700 rebates

Nikon Inc. has today announced two new rebates for its Coolpix 3200 and 8700 digital cameras.
The Nikon Coolpix 3200, which we described in our May 2004 review as "a great choice in a digicam, as it does most everything else right, with great-looking color, an excellent white balance system, exceptional macro capability, and great ease of use", is a 3.2 megapixel model with a 3x optical zoom lens. Currently carrying an MSRP price of $249.95, the camera is eligible for a $20 mail-in rebate, for a final price of $229.95.
The Nikon Coolpix 8700 is an eight megapixel model with an 8x optical zoom lens, which we called "a very strong entry in the high end digicam derby", and gave a coveted position on our Dave's Picks list of the most impressive offerings in the digital camera world. Ordinarily carrying an MSRP price of $999.95, Nikon is offering a whopping $200 mail-in rebate, for a final price of $799.95.
Nikon's Sail Into Savings rebate PDF lists the rebates as valid on purchases from August 1st to September 30th, 2004, purchased from Nikon authorised dealers and resellers.
