Fujifilm announces FinePix F810 By
Michael R. Tomkins, The Imaging Resource (Friday, September 24, 2004 - 12:25 EDT)Fuji Photo Film USA Inc. has announced a new addition to its FinePix line of digital cameras that combines a six megapixel SuperCCD imager and 4x optical zoom lens in a stylish, metal body.
The F810 offers an interpolated resolution up to 4048 x 3040 pixels, and a choice of both 4:3 or (rather unusually) 16:9 formats. ISO sensitivities from 80 to 400, plus an extended ISO 800 at three megapixel or lower resolutions, are available. A new image processor is said to offer lower noise, coupled with a startup time of 1.2 seconds, a capture rate of one frame per second, and a shutter lag of 0.05 seconds. A continuous mode offers up to three frames per second shooting, and a VGA movie mode with sound allows recording at 30 frames per second for as long as flash memory and battery life remain.
The Fujifilm Finepix F810 will reach US shores next month at a price of $599.

NEW FUJIFILM FINEPIX F810 DIGITAL CAMERA SHOOTS IN STANDARD OR WIDESCREEN FORMATS
Super CCD HR Sensor and New Processor Provide Speed and Quality
VALHALLA, NY, September 23, 2004 -- For consumers who enjoy viewing their digital still images or movie clips on widescreen TVs or monitors, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. announces the FinePix F810, the latest addition to Fujifilm's extensive digital camera line. Featuring the same high quality Super CCD HR sensor, new image processor and 4x zoom lens found in the recently introduced FinePix E550, the new F810 provides the additional versatility of shooting in either standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) formats.
The FinePix F810 offers 6.3 million effective pixels and can capture up to 4048 x 3040 recorded pixels (12.3 million) in standard mode or 3968 x 2232 recorded pixels (8.9 million) in widescreen mode using Fujifilm's proprietary Super CCD HR (High Resolution) sensor system. The sensor offers expanded sensitivity, from ISO 80 for superb image quality to ISO 200 and 400 for high performance and ultra-high ISO 800 (at 3MP mode or less) for low light or fast action photography.
This unique image sensor is powered by a new image processor, which provides incredible speed combined with drastically reduced noise levels. As a result, the camera is ready to go in a start-up time of 1.2 seconds, is able to capture images with a frame-to-frame time of 1.0 second, and features a shutter lag of just 0.05 seconds.
The FinePix F810 is equipped with a Fujinon 4x optical zoom lens with a 35mm camera equivalent of 32.5-130mm in standard mode and 35.5-142mm in widescreen mode. The camera also offers a variety of shooting modes ranging from automatic, manual, programmed AE, aperture or shutter priority AE, macro, to four pre-programmed scene positions (portrait, landscape, sports, night scene). In addition, a continuous shooting mode may be selected, capturing top or final 4 frames at a rate of 3 frames/second, as well as a long burst mode, at a maximum of 1.6 frames/second, recording up to 40 frames (at 2 megapixel mode only). The FinePix F810 captures movie clips at 30 frames/second at full VGA with sound, either in standard or widescreen mode, with no time limitations.
The FinePix F810 offers a 2.1-inch widescreen LCD screen that provides approximately 100% of coverage for easy viewing and control. The camera is powered by a NP-40 rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and comes with Fujifilm's PictureCradle for recharging as well as for fast image downloading.
“The FinePix F810 is yet another example of Fujifilm's innovation and technology,” said Bill Drysdale, Vice President of Marketing, Digital Devices Division, Imaging Group, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. “It's fast, produces outstanding images and can be used in standard mode to view or make prints, or in widescreen mode when still images or movie clips are to be viewed on a widescreen TV or monitor.”
The FinePix F810 will be available in October 2004 in photo specialty stores at a MSRP of $599.
