The Nikon Coolpix 5900 is a near-twin to the Nikon 7900 model that we reviewed just a few days back.

About the only feature difference (other than the 5 megapixel sensor chip) is its lack of the vibration-reduction option in its movie mode. I did find some differences in image quality and performance though, that mean you'd do much better with the 7900 if you plan lots of low-light photography.

That said though, I do feel that the Nikon 5900 is a much better deal than the Nikon Coolpix 5600, which I also reviewed in the last few days. For $50 or so more, the 5900 is much more of a camera than the 5600, well worth the extra cost. Read our review of the Nikon Coolpix 5900 for all the details!
