Sanyo: New digicam plant in Vietnam (UPDATED)|

Vietnamese newspaper Thanh Nien has reported on its website that Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. will soon open a new digital camera plant in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai.
According to the article, the new plant will be located in an industrial zone in the province, and will initially have an output of 3,000 cameras per month. This is slated to rise to 10,000 cameras per month by the end of the year. The initial phase of construction required an investment of US$13 million, and the plant will go online from September 13th.
UPDATED 2005-08-11 16:50ET:A separate article from the VietNamNet website suggests that the factory will have a monthly output of 100,000 cameras a month, suggesting that Thanh Nien were off in their figures by a factor of ten.
