By Michael R. Tomkins, The Imaging Resource

A news article posted on Taiwan's DigiTimes Systems website reports that Taiwanese OEM vendors will ship 50 million digicams this year.

According to the article, itself based on a report from the "Economic Daily News", this would account for 50% of 2007's global shipments. The largest Taiwanese OEM digicam vendor is Foxconn, which recently absorbed Premier Image Technology, and plans to ship 20 million units in 2007 - almost two thirds more than the 12 million units the company shipped in 2006. Foxconn would lead the way over Altek, Ability Enterprise, and Asia Optical, which are expected to ship another 29 million units between them.

More details can be found in the DigiTimes article.
