Leica Camera AG has released a new version of firmware for its Digital-Modul-R digital back for the Leica R8 and R9 cameras.

Digital-Modul-R firmware version 1.3 replaces version 1.2 from March 2006, and has a number of changes including the following as described by Leica:
  • Improved colour rendering on the Digital-Modul-R display
  • Adjustment of exposure
  • Improved compatibility of SD cards with FAT 32 system /4 GB cards (not SDHC)
  • Numerous internal procedures were implemented that optimise the general image reproduction
    and functional features of the Digital-Modul-R.
The company is noting that if upgrading to version 1.3 from version 1.1 of firmware, your SD cards will need to be reformatted before use since the data format has been changed.

Leica Camera AG Offers Free Firmware Updates To The Leica Digital Modul-R

July 20, 2007 -- Leica Camera AG announced today that it will provide a free firmware update for the LEICA DIGITAL MODUL-R on its website www.leica-camera.com. The new firmware, Version 1.3, offers extensive improvements in the performance of Leica's SLR digital/film hybrid system.

The new firmware for the LEICA DIGITAL MODUL-R optimizes the coloring on the Digital Modul-R display screen, enhanced adjustment of exposure and improved compatibility of SD cards with FAT 32 system/ 4 GB cards. The update will also increase general image reproduction and functional features.
