PRESS RELEASE: New Digital Imaging Technology is Empowering Libraries in the Preservation & Archival of Valuable Book Collections

Digitizing library assets, making the information readily available and preserving for generations to come is a top priority for many libraries. Thanks to advancements in digital cameras, new imaging technology is empowering libraries in the preservation of millions of rare collections.

Bohemia, NY (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 8, 2009 -- Digitizing library assets, making the information readily available and preserving for generations to come is a top priority for many libraries. Thanks to advancements in digital cameras, new imaging technology is empowering libraries in the preservation of millions of rare collections.

As Penny Imaging Exchange is a major player in the document imaging industry, we understand the ever growing need for the preservation of historical books, microfilmed records and delicate library materials and have taken steps to invest in various new technologies for the benefit of professional conversion houses, consultants, integrators and other resellers, who in close accord, will work with the libraries to define the project specifications to digitize and archive documents and assist in the preservation of valuable library assets.

The technology of capturing documents has changed for the better. New megapixel cameras are quite expensive but are more often being used instead of line scanners to capture the clearest archival images possible and unlike conventional scanners, there is no need to flatten and put undue stress on delicate bindings. Images can be scanned as black & white or color and in various Dots per Inch (DPI) settings. This new technology can accommodate books of various sizes, shapes, thickness and bindings. As well, priceless, frail and old books are easily protected from undue damage.

Libraries, historical societies and educational institutions interested in digitizing historical content should contact Hellman Chica at (631) 563-6366 ext 301 / hellman(at)pennieimaging.com as PIE has resellers and alliances throughout North America.
