Sony Corp. has settled a patent infringement lawsuit filed against the company by the California Institute of Technology, according to an article published by Bloomberg.

Caltech filed suit against a total of six digital camera makers, seeking royalties on 11 digital camera-related patents which it felt had been infringed upon.

Details of the settlement with Sony have not been released, but the court has been informed that Caltech's dispute with the company has been resolved. According to Bloomberg, another unidentified camera maker is close to reaching a settlement with Caltech. Of the remaining four companies, three are said to have denied infringement. The trio - Nikon, Olympus and Panasonic - have variously claimed the patents to be invalid or unenforceable. The final company, Samsung, has yet to respond to the suit.

More details can be found in the Bloomberg article.
