ASSIMILATE Sponsors First RED-Approved REDucation Training Event

(July 20, 2009) At the first RED-approved REDucation training that debuts in Los Angeles on July 20 - 26 at the LA Center Studios, ASSIMILATE will demo SCRATCH with support for RED's latest Build 20 color science and firmware in its real-time SCRATCH-RED 4K Workflow. ASSIMILATE, a leading sponsor of the REDucation event, has been at the forefront of the global digital revolution in filmmaking with its SCRATCH(r) Digital Process Solution. The SCRATCH 4K workflow for the native RED CODE 4K files streamlines RED post production, enabling the rapidly growing community of RED users to seamlessly and cost-effectively produce, preview, color grade, and finish their films and complex imagery projects.

Blending Build 20 and Older RED Color Science with SCRATCH
In combination with RED firmware Build 20, RED has made significant changes in the way R3D images are processed. SCRATCH v4.4 supports both this new and previous versions of RED color science to give users the most straightforward RED 4K workflow for maximum image control, while requiring the least amount of additional set-up or prep work.

For Build 20, ASSIMILATE has incorporated RED's new color science within SCRATCH v4.4 so that any new imagery projects users begin in this version will automatically use the new math method for R3D files. Additionally, SCRATCH automatically detects if a previous version of SCRATCH was used for a project and restores in SCRATCH v.4.4, ensuring the resulting images will look the same as they did when using an earlier version of SCRATCH. Colorists can also remove the previous color grading from a shot and apply the new color science with no additional grading.

REDucation
"The adoption of the RED ONE Digital 4K Camera by filmmakers, creative producers, and agencies, has been a revolutionary phenomenon since its introduction. RED has developed a large customer base that will now benefit from the formal training that REDucation will offer," says Lucas Wilson, ASSIMILATE's Director of Business Development. "Because the SCRATCH workflow has supported the native RED RAW files from on the on-set, a majority of their users are our customers. This event gives us another opportunity for direct interaction with users, which is what we enjoy. They always offer the insightful feedback we need to continually enhance the SCRATCH tool set."

REDUCATION - created by HD Expo - is the first large-scale "RED-Approved" formal education series for the RED ONE 4K Digital camera, addressing both production and is proud to be one of the leading sponsors for this event.

REDUCATION is broken up into 3 parts - the Production series, the Post Production series, and the Community Day on July 23. On the Community Day, ASSIMILATE will do a SCRATCH 4K post-workflow presentation in the morning to paid REDUCATION students. ASSIMILATE will also be showing SCRATCH in a booth in the Community Day Demo Theater.

You're invited to come and see the latest and greatest in post production technology for RED with ASSIMILATE on Thursday, Jul 23rd at Los Angeles Center Studios!
