Sony is exhibiting its latest digital imaging products, including a concept model of its new compact "α" DSLR camera system, at CP+2010 (Camera and Photo Imaging Show) in Yokohama, Kanagawa (Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center), starting from on March 11 2010. The theme of Sony's booth is "The Power of Imaging", and in addition to various product exhibits, Sony is planning an array of events taking place exclusively at the Sony booth.

Exhibition Details

<Digital SLR Camera "α">

  • Full Lineup of "α" series DSLR camera bodies and range of "α" lenses and accessories
    Full lineup "α" series such as "α900" - "α550" and G lens - Carl Zeiss lens

  • Prototypes / New Concept Camera
    Ultra compact model with interchangeable lenses
    In 2010, Sony will introduce a new ultra-compact camera with interchangeable lenses that teams "any time, anywhere" convenience with DSLR picture quality. The concept model to be exhibited at CP+2010 features a newly-developed "Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor and also supports HD video recording using the AVCHD format.

    Sony will further enhance its "α" DSLR lineup in 2010 with the introduction of a range of new DSLR models incorporating features such as HD video recording using the AVCHD format. At CP+2010, two concept models currently under development will be displayed. Both cameras will be equipped with Sony's newly-developed "Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor, and feature AVCHD HD video recording capability.
  • Prototype Lenses- two models

    • Distagon T* 24mm F2 ZA SSM (scheduled for launch in 2010)

    • Super Telephoto Lens (500mm F4G)

    The "α" family of over 30 interchangeable lenses and teleconverters is set to grow with the addition of further exciting new models, and at CP+2010.
    Sony will showcase two lenses currently under development.

<Digital Still Camera "Cyber-shot">

  • Full "Cyber-shot" Lineup
    T series, H series, W series
    Visitors to the Sony booth can experience a range of features, such as the stunning low light performance provided by Sony's back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS sensor, and the "Sweep Panorama" function which enables users to shoot panoramic photos in one easy press-and-sweep motion. Models to be exhibited include Sony's DSC-TX7 and DSC-HX5V Cyber-shot cameras with full HD (AVCHD) recording capability. Visitors will also be able to experience the convenience of "TransferJet", a wireless high-speed data transfer technology that allows two TransferJet-enabled cameras to communicate and transfer files simply by bringing them into contact with each other.

<HD Camcorder "Handycam">

  • Full "Handycam" Lineup
    Including XR series, CX series
    Sony's full lineup of new 2010 "Handycam" models will also be on display, all of which features Sony's "Exmor R" CMOS sensor. Exhibits will include the top-of-the range HDR-XR550V and HDR-CX550V models featuring a new "Active Mode" which doubles image stabilization capability by extending the 3-way-shake cancelling feature across the full zoom range - from wide to telephoto. Visitors to the Sony booth will also be able to experience other features Sony is introducing this spring, including a new 29.8mm wide-angle lens, and "Golf Shot", a feature that renders two seconds of motion (golf swing) into a sequence of up to 22 still images.

  • Other digital imaging products including Sony's mobile HD snap camera "bloggie" and digital photo frame "S-frame" will also be on display.

  • New Concept Camera Corner
    Mock ups of a new, ultra-compact interchangeable lens digital camera system that packs the quality of a DSLR camera in an extraordinarily small body, along with interchangeable lenses will be exhibited for the first time in Japan (concept model).

  • "α" and "Cyber-shot" User Experience Corner
    Sony digital still cameras will be loaned to visitors to enable them to experience the array of new features for themselves. Visitors that complete a questionnaire will also be able to enter a draw for following prizes:

    • Tickets to a football match featuring Japan's national team

    • Replica official match ball of 2010 FIFA World CupTM

    • Original merchandise

  • Live Shooting Corner
    A miniature football pitch will be located within the Sony booth, where visitors can capture images of the players in action.

About CP+
"CP+" is a comprehensive camera and photo imaging show hosted by the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA). The first CP+ event is being held in Yokohama, Japan between March 11 and 14, 2010. It addresses every aspect of photo imaging entertainment from shooting, to viewing and sharing. The CIPA's intention is to create an event which widely communicates the newest and most exciting photo entertainment and culture from Japan, a leader in the global photographic industry leaders. CP+ also aims to provide an ideal global platform from which to disseminate information on the latest products and technologies relating to camera and imaging equipment from Japan, and further drive the evolution of the camera and imaging industry.
