In the last few days, Google has made a couple of announcements related to its Picasa imaging software and Picasa Web Albums sharing service.
The company has just released an update to Picasa 3.6 for Mac users, mirroring the release of Picasa 3.6 for Windows last February. The latest version of Picasa for Mac OS comes close to matching the Windows version on feature set, including the addition of multi-language support, although curiously three languages which are offered for Windows users -- Hindi, Thai and Vietnamese. Features newly available to Mac-based photographers include support for collaborative albums on Picasa Web Albums, as well as improvements to name tagging, group sharing during Picasa Web Album upload, new organization methods on import, custom crop sizes, and the ability to upload to Picasa Web Albums without increasing JPEG compression.
Google has also announced that it has raised the number of albums a Picasa Web Albums account can contain, from the previous limit of 1,000 to a whopping 10,000 albums maximum.
