Rollei's Compactline 360 TS digital camera. Photo provided by Rollei GmbH. PRESS RELEASE: Trade show preview: Rollei travels through time

Hamburg, 2 August 2010 -- It is only a few weeks until the start of the IFA and Photokina 2010, during which Rollei will be focussing on its 90th anniversary.

In addition to the presentation of new products, Rollei will also be using the trade shows to travel through time with its visitors. The Rollei team has thus retrieved some old treasures and extremely rare pieces from the archives and created a really impressive presentation. This includes Rollei analogue cameras and camcorder and photo accessories from the past 90 years, which are sure to make the hearts of photography fans beat faster.

Photos from Bruno Bernard, which reflect the atmosphere of the 40's and 50's, will also be on display. This photographer, known as "Bernard of Hollywood", became famous as a glamour photographer and is considered the person who discovered Marilyn Monroe. Rollei will be showing a number of Bernard's pictures of the Hollywood diva, which were taken with his Rolleiflex camera, at their stand.

Some of the camera highlights that Rollei will be presenting at the trade shows include the Compactline 360 TS and Compactline 370 TS, which will be available from the end of September in "Marilyn Monroe pout" packaging.

Both digital cameras include a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display, which provide a wide range of interesting features. Touchscreen operation has conquered the market since the introduction of the iPhone, which is why the current range of Rollei cameras are following this trend.

By lightly touching the screen, inexperienced photographers can navigate easily through the menus, select photos and moves these to the left or right. What's more, pictures can be zoomed in on by simply rotating the finger clockwise.

The Compactline 360 TS stands out thanks to its extremely colourful nature — it will be available in pink, aubergine, titanium and silver. The internal values are also impressive, however: 12-megapixel image sensor, 4x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens. Videos can be recorded in brilliant HD quality (1280x720) with 30 images per second. Despite all of these features, the camera won't hurt your wallet at just 99.95 euros (RRP)!

Although the Compactline 370 TS includes the same technical properties, it picks up extra points thanks to a wider image sensor: it can take photos with 14 megapixels, which means large format prints are not a problem. This new touchscreen camera will be available in black and silver for 129.95 euros (RRP).
