GoPro's NVG Mount Makes it Easy to Attach a GoPro camera to any Military or Civil Service Helmet Outfitted with a Night Vision Goggle Mounting Plate

HALF MOON BAY, Calif., May 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- GoPro, the world's leading activity image capture company, announced availability of the NVG (Night Vision Goggle) Mount for its best selling HD HERO line of wearable and gear mountable cameras. The NVG Mount is available at select retail stores, military exchanges, and at gopro.com for $29.99.

The NVG Mount conveniently attaches GoPro's HD HERO cameras to military, police, and other civil service helmets equipped with standard NVG mounting (adapter) plates. The NVG Mount is compatible with the standard issue US Army 1-hole NVG helmet mounting plates and similar mounting plates based on the "rhino" mounting system.

Already standard equipment for professional athletes and TV production companies demanding professional quality HD video capture and rugged durability, GoPro's HD HERO camera is ideally suited for capturing military and civil service training and documentary videos from the soldier or serviceperson's perspective. The HD HERO is so compact and lightweight (just under 6 ounces) that it's barely noticeable when worn on a helmet. Protected in an extremely durable and replaceable polycarbonate housing, the HD HERO camera is waterproof to 180'.

The new NVG Mount joins a wide range of mounting accessories that enable hands-free use of GoPro cameras that enable service personnel to focus on their safety and duty rather than on the camera.

"Over the past year, we have seen our cameras used by military and civil services personnel around the world," said Nicholas Woodman, CEO and founder of GoPro. "We developed our NVG Mount to make it simple for them to attach their GoPro cameras to the helmets they're already using everyday. The men and women serving in the military and civil services are out there every day, working in some of the most extreme conditions on earth. We are hopeful that our products can help them with their work and serve a useful purpose, be it training or documenting their experiences in a way that can help inform others and save lives."
