Japan's Sigma Corp. has issued updated firmware for its flagship SD1 camera, the highest-resolution SLR announced to date using a Foveon X3 image sensor.

Sigma SD1 version 1.03 makes a number of changes to improve image quality of the SD1. Among the changes, the company notes improved white balance accuracy, along with better evaluative exposure metering, and more accurate flash exposures. There are also improvements in sharpening of raw files, as well as in image quality at sensitivities of ISO 3,200 and 6,400 equivalents.

The new Sigma SD1 v1.03 firmware is also said to have squashed a number of bugs, thereby improving stability, although no specific details are given.
