Last month, we shared with you a video from Adobe teasing their upcoming ‘dehaze’ feature. Now, the dehaze feature is live and ready to save some shots in the latest Creative Cloud update, which went live earlier this week.

Grant Friedman, a NYC-based photographer and editor, shared a little video showing just how well the new dehaze feature works. In it, he takes an extremely steamy shot of a New York City street and, almost like magic, manages to recover the image for the most part.

There has been plenty of discussion as to how effective this new tool will be and how it differs from a contrast slider. We can’t tell you exactly how it works, but it’s safe to say, as seen in this video, that there is much more to it than simply increasing the shadows while equally reducing the highlights.

You can find more of Friedman’s work on his BTS website, Next to the Text as well as follow him on Twitter and Instagram.
