  • Nikon 180mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF Nikkor

9 out of 10 points and recommended
    Sharp, great all-around focal length
    litte slow in focussing

I love this lens. I use it for general purpose photography and mostly for sports. Sports use is soccer, wrestling, swimming, and baseball, mostly. It is fast enough for the indoor sports and at the same time, not too big to be lunking around for the outdoor events. All in all I have found it to be very sharp, and a good example of why it is worth paying more for Nikon glass.

  • Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 SP AF

8 out of 10 points and recommended
    Sharp, light
    slow focus at times

I use this lens mostly for macro work, though occasionally for portraits as well, because it is the right focal length for portraits. It is a very sharp lens, especially for macros. Although it has a good build quality, it is light, which also argues in favor of using it for multi-purpose. I have found it to be somewhat slow in the focussing, especially in low light situations. All in all I recommend this lens.
