Nikon D100: European info - but is it correct for the US? (UPDATED)|

DPReview posts more specifications and info for the upcoming digital SLR, but our sources suggest some points may not be accurate for US or Canadian models...
Phil Askey, the man behind the excellent Digital Photography Review website, has today posted updated specifications for Nikon's D100 SLR digital camera based on materials he's received from Nikon Europe. The specs make for interesting reading, with new additions including mention of a 3 frames per second continuous mode up to 6 JPEG images, and a software bundle including Nikon View 5 and Nikon Capture 3.
We've heard from sources at both Nikon Canada and our own contacts here in the US though, suggesting that the information may not reflect the picture for markets other than Europe. Nikon Canada noted that their software bundle has not been decided, and our contact also said that some of the information was incorrect - but didn't elaborate beyond that.
Since we're US-based, that market is our primary focus - so we're currently awaiting confirmation of specifications and shipping configuration from Nikon USA. (It's quite common for "bundles" of software & accessories shipped with cameras to vary between international regions, so some differences in how the D100 is sold in Europe vs the package in the US are to be expected.) We'll post detailed information pertinent to the US market as soon as we have the full party line from Nikon USA.
UPDATED 2002-04-26 14:11ET: We just noticed that the Digital Photography Review item has been updated, and now states that Nikon Capture 3 will not be included with cameras in Europe, and will be an optional extra. This is in line with what we're hearing from other markets...
