Company's first 4-megapixel camera now available in the US market...

Hewlett-Packard Co. has revealed in an article posted by David Becker, Staff Writer for CNET News.com that its PhotoSmart 812 digital camera has just begun shipping in the USA. We first told you about the PhotoSmart 812 back in January when it was first unveiled, and the camera marks HP's first 4-megapixel model.

The PhotoSmart 812 continues HP's relationship with Pentax, featuring a Pentax-designed all-glass lens with two double-sided aspheric elements. Perhaps the most unusual feature of the camera is the ability to tag images using what HP terms 'Instant Share' technology. Tagged images are sent automatically to up to 14 destinations such as email addresses and printers when the camera is next connected to a PC...

When announced, HP suggested a list price of $599 for the camera, however a check of IR affiliate PriceGrabber.com reveals that the camera is actually available for around $450.
