Nikon Inc. has today announced its new Coolpix 3500 digital camera, an update to the existing Coolpix 2500 model that bumps the resolution up to 3.2 megapixels (effective).

Most of the other specifications of the Coolpix 3500, which gets its higher resolution from a 3.34 megapixel CCD imager, are similar to its predecessor. In fact, probably the most noticeable difference when looking at the camera from a distance is a clean looking new charcoal-grey color scheme with subtle blue highlights.

The Nikon Coolpix 3500 will hit stores this November at a cost of $399.95.

The New Nikon Coolpix 3500 Digital Camera Delivers Nikon Image Quality From Almost Any Angle Providing Consumers With Swivel, Style and Performance

MELVILLE, NY, September 19, 2002 - Nikon® (www.nikonusa.com), the world leader in photography, today introduced the new powerful and portable Nikon Coolpix® 3500 digital camera, providing another new twist to Nikon's inner-swivel lens design. First featured on the popular Nikon Coolpix 2500, the new Coolpix 3500 builds upon the multi-angle capability and creative "personality" of the inner-swivel design sporting an enhanced 3.2 effective Megapixel CCD into the camera's sleek new charcoal gray body. The new 3.2 megapixel power will give consumers the ability to expand their digital creativity while still maintaining a pocket-sized profile.

The inner-swivel lens makes shooting from various angles fun and easy, while also protecting the lens when not in use. The Nikon Coolpix 3500 also features Nikon's built-in One-Touch Upload™ button to easily transfer images to your computer or the Web for quick, convenient photo sharing.

"The Nikon Coolpix 3500 builds upon the tremendous success of Nikon's inner-swivel technology by increasing resolution for the on-the-go photographer," said Jerry Grossman, Vice President, Marketing for Consumer Digital Products and Compact Cameras. "Consumers have embraced the inner-swivel design for its unique look and the amazing ability to capture great pictures from any almost angle and the 3500 builds upon this commitment to image quality by adding 3.2 megapixel power to the compact, stylish and easy-to-use camera."

SwivelStylePerformance

The Nikon Coolpix 3500's inner-swivel 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor lens brings you in close to your subject utilizing a zoom range of 37-111mm (35mm equivalent) while still maintaining a sleek, slim body and "shirt-pocket" convenience. The camera also offers a built-in speedlight with Red-eye Reduction.

With 3.2 effective megapixels, the Coolpix 3500 produces high-definition images (for prints up to 11x14 inches) and maintains Nikon's superior technology with 256-segment Matrix Metering, for remarkable color, contrast and image clarity.

The Coolpix 3500 weighs approximately six ounces and measures 4.5 x 2.3 x 1.2 inches which makes it the perfect companion for any photographer who wants high quality images from a slim, compact digital camera.

Taking great pictures is easy with the Nikon Coolpix 3500's intuitive functions and versatile features including a fully Automatic Shooting Mode, Continuous Shooting Mode to capture fast action and 12 pre-programmed Scene modes which automatically adjust exposure and other camera settings for great shots in virtually any shooting situation.
