Konica Minolta's Maxxum 7 Digital. Courtesy of Konica Minolta, with modifications by Michael R. Tomkins. Maxxum 7D: pricing info

We've now received information on expected US pricing for Konica Minolta's upcoming Maxxum 7 Digital - alternatively known as the Maxxum 7D (and, we believe, to be known in Europe as the Dynax 7 Digital).

Pricing is currently planned at US$1599 for the camera body only, and the kit will include a coupon for a US$150 discount off the purchase of any AF lens along with the camera body. This puts the Maxxum 7D just slightly above the pricing of Canon's EOS 20D - but bear in mind that the camera's anti-shake mechanism is built into the body itself. Canon users must purchase lenses with anti-shake built in, with an attendant price premium on each lens purchase.

Should the Maxxum 7D's performance and image quality be up to early expectations, this looks to be a pretty good price - even given the other differences in specifications between the two cameras (such as resolution, burst speed, and ISO range, that may be seen as weighing in the 20D's favor).

This is one camera we're definitely looking forward to testing!
