Tanagra discounts backup software
By
(Monday, August 1, 2005 - 16:20 EDT)

A press release from Tanagra Inc. today announces a 25% discount on its Memeo backup software throughout August for any customer purchasing a storage hardware device from Buffalo Technology.

Buffalo's product line includes the Drivestation, Linkstation, Gigabit Linkstation and Terastation, offering anywhere from 120 gigabytes to a whopping 1.6 terabytes of storage - which would be rather nice if you've got a huge photo collection you want safely backed up and close to hand. For example, pop the 1.6 terabyte Terastation model on your gigabit ethernet network, put it in mirrored RAID mode, and you have two speedy 400GB network shares on which to store your images - automatically backed up so that at any time the same data is always on two drives in case one fails.

Tanagra's Memeo software meanwhile aims to automatically identify and backup files you care about, without user intervention. This could take the hassle out of backing up your files - which would mean that you're more likely to have a backup of the file you want. The alternative: you could lose anything since the last backup you had the time and energy to manually initiate.

Tanagra Memeo regularly costs $29.95, and Buffalo's pricing varies from $140 for the 120GB DriveStation up to $1800 for the 1.6TB Terastation.

PROTECT YOUR SUMMER VACATION PHOTOS WITH MEMEO PHOTO PROTECTION™ SOFTWARE

Tanagra Memeo and Buffalo Technology Partner to Offer Users A 25% Discount on Tanagra's Robust Backup Software

Laguna Niguel, California ― August 1, 2005 - Tanagra, Inc., a worldwide provider of backup software for the digital consumer, today announced it is offering a 25% discount off of its powerful backup software, Memeo through the month of August. The discount is only available for customers who purchase a storage hardware device by Buffalo Technology, all of which include a 30-day free trial of Memeo.

"Summer is the hottest time of year to take photos. With kids out of school, vacations on the rise, back yard barbecues, sporting events, etc., it is so important for users to preserve all of those precious moments," stated Hong Bui, CEO and Co-founder of Tanagra. "A surprising number of users do not implement an effective backup strategy. We are hoping this promotion will encourage end-users to make use of a very valuable tool to protect their digital summer memories."

"Buffalo was number one in the Network Attached Storage (NAS) retail industry in dollar sales for the month of May, according NPD Techworld. This tells us that not only are our products in high demand, but also that the need for effective data protection in the consumer market is on the rise," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of product marketing and public relations at Buffalo Technology. "Because Summer is one of the best times for families and friends to get together, it is important to not only store digital memories such as photos and videos, but also to make sure that additional protection is in place, such as Memeo backup software by Tanagra."

Memeo Zero-Touch data preservation technology allows users to automatically preserve and keep track of data files. Its simple SmartPickTM checklist is designed to take the guesswork out of locating and placing important files and allows users to utilize any available storage location. For example, users have the option to backup all of their pictures to their computer. When new pictures are downloaded to that computer, they will be backed up automatically. Memeo also keeps track of changes made to a file while disconnected from a designated back-up destination and automatically updates those changes upon re-connection. Memeo includes a powerful search feature so users can instantly find and restore any information - from a version of a single file to an entire computer's worth of data.

Buffalo's award-winning line of NAS devices includes the TeraStation (HD-H1.OTGL/R5), a 1 TeraByte NAS solution. The TeraStation is also available in capacities of 0.6 Terabyte (HD-H0.6TGL/R5) and 1.6 Terabyte (HD-H1.6TGL/R5). Buffalo's line of NAS devices also includes the LinkStation Network Storage Center, available in capacities of 120GB (HD-H120LAN), 160GB (HD-H160LAN), 250GB (HD-H250LAN) and 300GB (HD-H300LAN). Buffalo recently introduced a Gigabit version of the LinkStation, which allows home and business users to easily add high-performance network storage while providing 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN connections. The device is available in capacities of 160GB (HD-HG160LAN), 250GB (HD-HG250LAN), 300GB (HD-HG300LAN) and 400GB (HD-HG400LAN).
