Olympus has today announced updated firmware for five of its Four Thirds lenses.

In all cases, the updates make the lenses compatible with Panasonic's upcoming Lumix DMC-G1. The Panasonic G1 is the first Micro Four Thirds camera body, due to go on sale from mid-November and able to accept standard Four Thirds lenses via a converter. The firmware can be updated from either an Olympus or Panasonic camera body, thanks to a recent change made by the Four Thirds partner companies, who together announced a "joint update service" allowing firmware updates in cases where the lenses and camera bodies were of differing brands.

The Olympus lenses with updated firmware today (and their new firmware version numbers) are as follows:

  • Zuiko Digital 25mm f2.8: Firmware v1.2
  • Zuiko Digital 35mm f3.5 Macro: Firmware v1.2
  • Zuiko Digital ED 14 - 42mm f3.5 - f5.6: Firmware v1.3
  • Zuiko Digital ED 35 - 100mm f2.0: Firmware v1.2
  • Zuiko Digital ED 40 - 150mm f4.0 - f5.6: Firmware v1.3

Olympus camera users can update their lens firmware through their Olympus Master or Olympus Studio applications, and can find further information by visiting the following URL:
