Yokohama, Japan, April 28, 2010- JVC (Victor Company of Japan, Limited) announced today that its full HD camcorder, the Everio GZ-HM1, received the Best Expert Camcorder prize in the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA)’s prestigious TIPA Awards 2010, the most coveted photo and imaging awards worldwide.

According to the TIPA judging committee: “In the area of low light performance, the JVC GZ-HM1 provides superior results thanks to a new CMOS sensor that boosts sensitivity to 4 Lux. JVC made improvements in camera shake compensation at wide angle performance. Most stabilization efforts focus on high zoom ratios, but camera shake also occurs at wide angle settings, especially when the camera user is moving along with the subject. JVC uses prism technology in the GZ-HM1 to provide effective results at the wide-angle end of the zoom range.”

JVC released the GZ-HM1 for high-end video enthusiasts and semi-professionals on January 7 of this year.

TIPA, an independent non-profit association, held its general assembly in New York from April 8 to 10, during time which the editors of 28 photo magazines from nine European countries, Canada, South Africa and the U.S. voted on the best photo and imaging products introduced during the previous 12 months. The judges evaluated products for innovation, leading-edge technology, design, ergonomics, ease of use and cost-performance. For more information, visit www.tipa.com/english.
