Adobe has released an update to the latest version of its professional non-linear video editing software, Premiere Pro.

The Adobe Premiere Pro Creative Suite 5.0.1 update is available for both the Windows and Macintosh platforms, with separate downloads on each platform for customers who purchased the software via electronic download, and on a retail DVD. Only one change is listed in Premiere Pro 5.0.1 versus the previous release. Adobe's Mercury Playback Engine, which uses certain features of graphics cards to accelerate video rendering and playback, has been extended for one specific card. From version 5.0.1, the Mercury Playback Engine now supports additional layers on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 GPU card.

More details, including the updates themselves, can be found on the Adobe website. Customers who purchased the software via electronic download should visit the relevant update pages for Macintosh (released yesterday) and for Windows (released today). Customers who bought the retail package will find their updates on separate pages both for Macintosh, and for Windows, and the DVD updates were both issued yesterday.
