Steve Sanders tries out Toshiba's first entry into the four megapixel market...

The good folks over at Steve's Digicams have posted the first full review we've seen thus far of Toshiba's 4 megapixel PDR-M81 digital camera, which was first announced in Japan at the end of last month, followed by a US announcement at the start of this week. The PDR-M81 features a 4 megapixel CCD image sensor, 2.8x optical zoom lens from Canon, a range of manual features and both movie / burst mode capabilities. Steve concludes:
"I think the PDR-M81 will do well in the rapidly expanding four megapixel camera battle. It has plenty of features, lots of speed and better than average image quality. Size and weight considered, it's the kind of camera that you don't mind taking along on all-day outings. In automatic mode it is very easy to operate and qualifies as a "no brainer" point-n-shoot that anyone should be able to use. It physically resembles a compact 35mm film camera so those that are new to the digital world will immediately feel comfortable with it. For those users that like playing with knobs and dials, there's plenty of manual camera features to stimulate your creative side."
When you're done with Steve's review, you'll find further sample images from the camera at the Japanese PC Watch website...
