DJI has rolled out a major firmware update for the Mavic 4 Pro, adding new features that make the flagship drone even more versatile. Firmware version 01.00.0300 introduces focal length switching while recording, expanded portrait shooting options, and an improved return-to-home system.
Seamless Focal Length Switching While Recording
Pilots can now zoom in and out without stopping video recording, a first for the Mavic 4 Pro. The feature works in both Normal and Slow Motion modes, helping creators capture smoother transitions without cutting clips mid-flight.
Portrait Mode Enhancements
The update also brings lossless and cropped vertical shooting options to portrait mode. These can be accessed directly through portrait preferences, making it easier to produce vertical video content optimized for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro firmware update adds improvements to the return-to-home feature.
Dynamic Home Point for Mobile Operations
One of the most important additions is Dynamic Home Point when flying with the DJI RC 2 or RC Pro 2 remote controllers. The return-to-home location now updates in real time based on the controller’s position — a critical upgrade for drone pilots operating from moving vehicles or boats. To use this feature, users need to update the DJI Fly app to version 1.18.0.
Availability in the United States
The Mavic 4 Pro still lacks an official U.S. release due to regulatory hurdles. However, the drone is currently available through third-party sellers on Amazon, priced at $2,819 with the RC 2 controller or $3,549 for the Fly More Combo. Buyers should note that these resold units are not covered by DJI’s official U.S. warranty.
Interestingly, B&H Photo is also offering the DJI Mavic 4 Pro Fly More Combo for $3,899 via a DJI authorized dealer. The standard bundle and Creator Combo are currently out of stock at the retailer.
