  • Panasonic 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH MEGA OIS LUMIX G VARIO

8 out of 10 points and recommended
Excellent sharpness from border to center between f/5.6 and f/8
    Plastic mount, rough zoom.

Lens buyed in kit with camera.

An impressive image quality that can compete with some equivalent basic zoom lens kit provide with SLR (if we close at f/5.6 and f/8).

Color rendering of the images is excellent.

Excellent image quality in backlight condition.

O.I.S. more efficient with the last lens update (V1.1).

    Excellent image quality overall
Lens hood provide adapted for full frame camera only

Buyed in 2007 to get something near equivalent focal length of my EF 28-70mm f/2.8L to use on my APS-C camera.

I use the EW-83DII lens hood who is more adapted for APS-C camera (Original Lens Hood for EF 24mm f/1.4L USM Lens). Perfect fit.

Lens not too heavy nor too short, just perfect in the hand, in perfect balance with the camera.

The picture quality is there. The sharp edge / center is excellent. Perfect color rendering with multi-layer treatment of the L series Canon (8 layers on both sides).

The quality of construction (sealed lens, seal-rings on mount).

Only downside: performance significantly worse on a full frame camera.

Although this is an EF lens that can be mounted on both APS-C cameras and full frame camera. The optical design is optimized for APS-C cameras.

  • Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM

10 out of 10 points and recommended
    Excellent image quality
    No lens hood provides

    Pros:
-Excellent image quality. Even better on a full frame camera.
-IF focus system. The lens does not extend. The front element does not rotate.
    - Smooth AF
    -Excellent quality / price ratio.

    Cons:
-Not solid as the first version, but strong enough still to resist a 2' fall (as hapened to me on a hard surface) without any lens shift.
-A little cyan color cast visible.

  • Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

6 out of 10 points and not recommended
    Interesting zoom range
    Too much lateral chromatic aberration

I had many expectations when I bought at high prices that lens in 2005. Cleared less than a year later.

    Pros:
The zoom range is interesting and allows for shooting wide angle point of view.

    Cons:
Too high price for the real qualities. Very bad investment.
No lens hood included. Shame on you Canon!
Compatibility which is limited only to APS-C.
A light cyan color cast typical of EF-S lens.
A lateral chromatic aberration too visible to the shortest focal lengths.
A lack of homogeneity from the center to the edges.

Today, competition is offering better product. If I were you, I will forget that lens.
