The Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA6 is marketed as a hybrid device capable of capturing 30fps VGA video while simultaneously taking full resolution still images. The Sanyo CA6 features a vertical "pistol grip" design reminiscent of a camcorder, with no optical viewfinder in favour of a large 2.0" flip-out LCD display. It features an F3.5 - 4.7 5x optical zoom lens, a six megapixel imager, plus the aforementioned MPEG4 movie mode.

Other features of the Sanyo Xacti CA6 include the ability to function as a webcam, SD card storage, and in-camera video editing. One proviso should be noted about the water-resistance; Sanyo's press release actually states that the camera "should remain in the upright position when being splashed." MSRP pricing is set at $399.99, and the Sanyo CA6 ships from August 2006.
