For the folks at Leica, it seems that these days, silver is the new black. Late last year, they released a silver variant of the D-LUX 6 compact camera. Today they follow up with the silver treatment for the Leica X Vario, a beautifully crafted camera to which we awarded a Dave's Pick, despite a few quirks.

Like the D-LUX 6 before it, the Leica X Vario Silver is still predominantly black, because that's the color of its leather trim. However, this time around, the magnesium and aluminum body panels are predominantly silver, unlike the D-LUX 6. That camera only added a silver finish to the lens barrel and cap. To our eye the approach in the X Vario Silver, with silver panels and top and bottom, is much more handsome.

The Leica X Vario is now available in silver. It's still pricey, but now more handsome than ever.

The silver version of the Leica X Vario is available immediately in the US market. Want to know if it's the right camera for you? Read our Leica X Vario review.
