At long last, 300mm zoom reach is now available for Sony FE shooters around the world in the form of the Sony FE 70-300mm G OSS f/4.5-5.6 lens. We're in the middle of our full technical review of this lens for you now, but I couldn't resist sneaking it out for a weekend excursion and posting some initial gallery images and first impressions.

Given that this offering isn't a high-powered, constant aperture sports zoom, it seemed most fitting to pair it with the all-purpose Sony A7 II body, a model that took home the impressive honor of Best Mirrorless Camera in our 2014 Camera of the Year awards. The two strike a nice balance, and the weight is less than on comparable combinations found in the full frame DSLR world.
