SAN DIEGO, February 25, 2004 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in data storage, today announced that it is now shipping two new CD-RW/DVD-ROM combination drives: the Iomega® CD-RW/DVD-ROM Plus 7-in-1 Card Reader, and the Iomega CD-RW/DVD-ROM External USB 2.0 Drive.

Both drives give users the latest in 52x24x52x CD-RW technology enhanced with 16x DVD-ROM (read-only) capability. Iomega's "Plus" product features a 7-in-1 card reader that makes it possible for home users and digital camera enthusiasts to download digital camera images, drag and drop files between media cards, archive photos, watch DVDs, and back up data, all from the same device.

Multiple Card Formats Supported
The CD-RW/DVD-ROM Plus 7-in-1 Card Reader supports the following card formats:

  • CompactFlash™ (type I and type II)
  • SmartMedia™ (SM)
  • Microdrive
  • Multimedia Card (MMC)
  • Secure Digital (SD)
  • Memory Stick (all formats including MS Duo and Magic Gate)
  • Memory Stick Pro
Superior Optical Drive Performance
Both new drives provide superior optical drive performance and include buffer under-run protection for reliable burns, 48x DAE (digital audio extraction) for exceptionally fast audio ripping from CDs, and a 2 MB hardware buffer to streamline data transfers.

Included Software
For easy CD burning, both drives include Iomega's HotBurn® Pro software for Windows® PCs and Charismac Discribe for Macintosh® computers.

Also included is Iomega® Automatic Backup software, a PC Magazine Editor's Choice for real-time backup software (June 17, 2003, magazine edition). Other software includes Sonic™ CinePlayer™ software for the highest quality video playback, MusicMatch™ Jukebox music management software, and Adobe® Photoshop® Album photo management software.

Compatibility
For PC users, the products are compatible with PCs running Microsoft® Windows® 98/98SE, 2000, Me, and XP with an available USB 2.0 connection (backward compatible with USB 1.1 at 4x4x6x speeds). For Mac users, the CD-RW/DVD-ROM drives are compatible with Power Macintosh G5, G4 or G3 (blue and white G3 only) or iMac with built-in USB 1.1 connection and Mac OS® 8.6, 9.0.4, 9.1 or X for CD-RW; the 7-in-1 card reader is compatible with Mac OS X.
