PRESS RELEASE: Lexar Bolsters High-Performance USB Flash Drive Lineup, Offering Exciting New Innovations Beyond Storage

-- Introducing JumpDrive® Mercury, Featuring A New On-Board Capacity Meter --

LAS VEGAS, January 3, 2006 -- Lexar Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: LEXR), a leader in advanced digital media and accessories, today introduced new additions to its lineup of high-performance USB flash drives, as well as enhancements to existing products, at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Lexar, a full line supplier of flash based technology and solutions, is demonstrating its broadened lineup of JumpDrive® products, designed with a wide variety of features and capabilities geared toward different consumer needs and lifestyles.

Lexar's newest product, JumpDrive Mercury, includes a new integrated capacity meter that helps users solve the common problem of knowing how much storage space is available on their drive. The easy-to-read onboard meter saves users time by letting them quickly and easily gauge exactly how much storage space is left on their USB JumpDrive without even plugging it into a computer. Based on Electronic Paper Display (EPD) technology created by E Ink Corporation, the display is a paper-thin, shatter proof form that is easy to read, and does not rely on power to maintain capacity information. Lexar JumpDrive Mercury is the first Lexar product to feature the capacity meter and will be available in 1GB and 2GB.

"As we continue to grow our popular line of USB flash drives, what is emerging is an offering that is innovative, diverse and unique, with a particularly strong focus on meeting the demands of today's multimedia applications and levering breakthrough technologies that will give our customers new levels of flexibility, functionality and confidence while using a Lexar drive," said Steffen Hellmold, vice president and general manager USB flash drive and OEM products business unit, Lexar. "We firmly believe our distributors and partners will share our excitement when they see Lexar's variety of premium quality drives, with competitive capacities and strong feature sets well beyond storage."

Also debuting at CES is Lexar's super-compact USB drive, JumpDrive Firefly, a very small and convenient solution for storing, transferring and sharing multimedia and more. JumpDrive Firefly, one of the smallest flash drives available, will be available in 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB capacities.

In addition to its new JumpDrive products, Lexar is upgrading several existing models to reflect customer needs in terms of design, speed, efficiency, and capacity. Lexar's award-winning premium flash drive, the high-capacity JumpDrive Lightning will feature increased performance of 150x write speed and will be available in a new 4GB capacity version. Lexar defines "x" within its speed-rating system as equivalent to a minimum sustained write speed capability of 150 kilobytes per second. With the new capacity, the stylishly designed JumpDrive Lightning is unrivaled in terms of capacity, software functionality and design.

Lexar will also increase capacity in its JumpDrive TouchGuard™ product to 1GB. JumpDrive TouchGuard is a USB flash drive with an integrated biometric fingerprint sensor to authenticate a user's identity and provide easy access to secured files and password protected web sites. Introduced last year, JumpDrive TouchGuard set a new standard for secure, portable storage by allowing users to automatically log in to most web sites with the swipe of a finger, eliminating the need to remember and enter usernames and passwords.

At CES, South Hall Booth #30723, Lexar will showcase its new JumpDrive products as well as the recently introduced JumpDrive Secure II and the popular JumpDrive Sport, rounding out the offering, and demonstrating the depth and breadth of Lexar's USB line.
