Nikon Inc. has released an updated version of its ViewNX application for both the Mac OS and Windows platforms.

On the Windows platform, Nikon ViewNX v1.5.0 supports XP Home or Pro with Service Pack 3, and Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise or Ultimate with Service Pack 1. Mac system support includes OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.11 and 10.5.8 - but not the current 10.6 "Snow Leopard" release.

The new versions of Nikon ViewNX add support for the Nikon D3S digital SLR, and the ability to import information from an NMEA or GPX format GPS log so as to tag images with the logged position nearest to the capture time. The new versions also add support for Epson's E-Photo inkjet printing utility, and squashes two bugs - one related to conversion of files at the wrong resolution, and the other to inconsistent application of lateral color aberration compensation. Finally, the Windows variant adds support for Vista 64-bit - although the application itself merely runs in 32-bit mode in Microsoft's 64-bit OS - as well as adding support for Mac OS X 10.5.8.

More details can be found on the Nikon website.
