Kevin J. Weir’s animated photo GIFs are something out of an Edgar Allen Poe ghost story. Like half remembered nightmares, you just can't shake off these moving photographic hauntings that linger in the mind.

Weir is a student at Richmond, Virginia’s, VCU Brandcenter graduate program in advertising and he's spent a good deal of time in peripatetic exploration of the Library of Congress’ Flickr account. It has provided him with a trove of bizarre 19th and early 20th century images.

Combining these photos, Weir creates short animated GIFs, that some on the web have said resemble the animated cartoons of Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam. Hardly that, his ghastly snippets are obviously neither ironic nor funny. Rather, they seem to be images of evil hidden just beyond our vision.

Check out the one below and more of them here. Pleasant dreams!
