Begone, aberrations! New Lightroom 4.1 release candidate brings defringing controls

Four weeks after it debuted the first release candidate of Photoshop Lightroom 4.1, Adobe has today released a second release candidate version of its popular photographer-centric imaging application. Lightroom 4.1 RC2 adds new defringing controls that help squash chromatic aberration, and adds support for twelve new camera models. It also aims to fix eleven bugs present in the previously release candidate.
Newly supported cameras include the Canon EOS 60Da, Fujifilm FinePix F770EXR and F775EXR, Nikon D3200, Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF5, Pentax K-01, Samsung NX20, NX210 and NX1000, Sony Alpha SLT-A57 and NEX-VG20, and the RICOH LENS A16 24-85mm F3.5-5.5 module for the GXR camera body.

Additional changes noted in the new release candidate are described by Adobe as follows:

Estimated price does not update when switching between books in the Collection panel.

Postscript Type 1 Fonts do not appear in the Font menu within the Book module.

Filenames can be used as auto text captions within the Book module.

Fonts such as Courier New and Times were not displaying properly on books exported as PDF files.

The Adjustment Brush pin would not properly accept negative values.

Clarity adds grey tinting to 100% white tones.

Creating a soft proof does not add a line item to the History Panel.

Photos with GPS Altitude data will now properly display Altitude within Lightroom.

Unable to import RAW+ JPEG files directly from Canon 5D, Canon 5D Mark II, Nikon D700, Nikon D90, and Sony NEX5 cameras when connected through USB.

Unable to import RAW + JPEG files when using the built-in SD card reader on Macbook laptops in some scenarios.

Lightroom 4 and ACR 6.7 render files differently.

It can be rolled back to 4.0 by uninstalling the RC version, then reinstalling the full release, if desired, as the catalog format is unchanged.

Adobe Announces Lightroom 4.1 Release Candidate 2
Adobe today announced the availability of Lightroom 4.1 release candidate 2 on Adobe Labs. This update corrects issues reported from the initial Lightroom 4.0 release and Lightroom 4.1 Release Candidate. The Lightroom team would like to thank all of the customers who helped track down the details of these issues. This update also allows Lightroom to support HDR files and provide new controls to correct for color fringing. This update also adds raw file format support for a number of cameras, including Canon EOS 60Da, Olympus OM-D E-M5, Samsung NX1000 and Sony Alpha NEX-VG20.
