The good folks over at LensRentals have somehow pulled the rabbit out of the hat again: Panasonic's brand-new LUMIX® G X VARIO 35-100mm / F2.8 ASPH constant-aperture zoom lens might be on backorder everywhere, but somehow they've just gotten their hands on seven copies. As he always does with the most interesting lenses, company founder Roger Cicala was able to intercept them before they went out the door to the first rental customers.

The result is a piece on the LensRentals blog looking at the build quality of the new lens, how it handles with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera bodies, and some preliminary thoughts on its image quality. In the latter area, Roger had time to put all seven copies of the lens through some Imatest testing, and has posted a couple of charts showing the results.

More details over on the LensRentals blog. You can also find lens specifications on our sister site, SLRgear.com.
