New firmware for Leica, Nikon, Olympus cameras

If you're shooting with an Olympus XZ-2, Nikon S800c, or Leica S2, the holidays have come just slightly early for you this year -- there's new firmware available from all three manufacturers that improves each camera.
For the Olympus Stylus XZ-2 premium compact, there is but one change in firmware version 1.1, which has been announced by Olympus Japan but isn't yet listed on the company's US website. Olympus XZ-2 v1.1 corrects issues when shooting with ISO bracketing enabled. The firmware is available through Olympus' Digital Camera Updater application.
The Android-based Nikon Coolpix S800c compact, meanwhile, has now received its second firmware update, and two issues are corrected. With version 1.2 firmware installed, geotags recorded when GPS was enabled don't intermittently show the wrong location. Also, a curious problem whereby the date and time was recorded incorrectly for images shot between camera powerup and display of the Playback button has been resolved. Of course, changes made in the previous v1.1 update are also rolled into Nikon S800c v1.2 firmware. More details and the update for Mac and Windows are on the Nikon USA website.
Finally, Leica S2 firmware v1.0.4.2 enables use of the camera body with S-mount lenses that have central shutters. It also readies the camera for with use with the Leica Super-Elmar-S 24 mm f/3.5 ASPH. and Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30-90 mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. lenses announced recently at Photokina, and prevents the camera overriding your chosen shutter speed when the metering system determines that you've exceeded the exposure range. The latest firmware also improves white balance in concert with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. To obtain the update, customers must first register their camera, and then log into the owners' area of the Leica website. More details here.
