Nikon has released an updated version of ViewNX 2, the free imaging app that comes bundled with many of the company's cameras. Nikon ViewNX 2.8.1 for both Windows and Mac computers adds support for the recently-announced Nikon D610 digital SLR, as well as the unusual waterproof Nikon AW1 mirrorless camera.

If you're using Windows, that's it for the changes. Mac users, though, also get new frame rates for movies. If a file type other than MOV (MotionJPEG/Linear PCM) is set and unedited movies shot at 50p / 60p are added to the storyboard, you can now select to output 1080p50/60 and 720p50/60 movies using File > Create Movie.

The new release of Nikon ViewNX 2 doesn't include any other changes, according to the release notes. Get the download for Mac or Windows machines here.
