There has been some confusion surrounding the launch of the DJI Osmo 360 II after the company released two teasers with different dates. The first teaser indicated that the new 360-degree camera would be launched on August 13, while a second teaser said that it would be available on August 7.
It turns out that both dates are correct. The August 7 date refers to the start of pre-orders, while the official announcement is still scheduled for August 13. However, pre-orders are currently limited to China.
DJI Osmo 360 II Pre-Orders Are Now Open
DJI started accepting pre-orders for the Osmo 360 II on August 7 at 8PM Beijing time. This allows customers in China to secure the new 360-degree camera before its official announcement later this week.
The China-first release follows the strategy DJI has been taking with some of its newer products amid its ongoing regulatory issues in the US. The company is expected to announce the Osmo 360 II globally one or two weeks after the Chinese launch, which would put a global release sometime in late August or early September.
There are already several unboxing and review videos of the Osmo 360 II appearing on YouTube, giving us a better idea of what to expect from the second-generation camera.
What We Know About the Osmo 360 II
One of the details confirmed by the early unboxing videos is the larger battery. The Osmo 360 II has a 2,150mAh battery, up from the 1,950mAh battery used by the original Osmo 360. This matches information previously revealed through FCC filings.
The new camera also retains the basic design of the original, including the square body and similar lens arrangement. There are some minor changes to the exterior, including exposed screws on parts of the body that were hidden on the first-generation model.
One of the more significant upgrades is the addition of replaceable lenses. This is particularly useful for a 360-degree camera since the lenses protrude from the body and can easily get scratched during normal use. DJI appears to be addressing one of the biggest practical concerns with the original Osmo 360.
The Osmo 360 II will also feature NFC, which should make pairing and transferring files between the camera and compatible devices faster and easier.
8K60p Video Recording
The Osmo 360 II will reportedly retain the dual 1/1.1-inch sensors found in the original model. However, DJI is giving the new camera a boost in video performance.
The Osmo 360 II will reportedly be capable of recording 8K video at 60fps, up from 8K50p on the previous model. The higher frame rate should be useful for capturing faster action and gives users more flexibility when slowing footage down in post-production.
There are also minor refinements to the buttons and overall finish of the camera, but it looks like DJI is taking a relatively conservative approach with the second-generation model rather than completely redesigning it.

DJI Osmo 360 II vs. Insta360 X6
The timing of the launch is particularly interesting because DJI’s biggest competitor is also preparing a new 360-degree camera.
The Insta360 X6 is expected to be announced on August 12, just one day before the Osmo 360 II’s Chinese launch. Current reports suggest the X6 will feature dual 1-inch sensors, 8K50p recording, and a significantly smaller body.
That means both companies are preparing their next-generation 360-degree cameras at almost exactly the same time. It should make for an interesting battle, particularly with both brands moving toward larger sensors and higher-resolution video.
Pricing and Availability
DJI has not yet announced the pricing of the Osmo 360 II or confirmed when it will be available outside China.
The official announcement for the Chinese market is scheduled for August 13, 2026. A global launch is expected to follow in the coming weeks.
US availability remains uncertain. DJI continues to face regulatory issues with the FCC, and the company’s US website currently does not have a teaser for the Osmo 360 II. This could mean that the camera will not be officially sold in the US when it launches globally.
