DJI may have launched the Osmo Pocket 4 globally, but its release in the U.S. is hitting a major hurdle.
According to a report from PCMag, DJI confirmed that the Pocket 4 “will not be available in the U.S. market at launch due to pending FCC authorization.” In short, the camera didn’t receive approval before regulatory restrictions tightened.
What’s Going On With the FCC?
The situation ties back to DJI’s inclusion on the FCC’s Covered List in late 2025. The designation restricts certain companies from getting approval to sell new telecommunications-related products in the U.S.
Since then, the FCC has taken a stricter stance, including broader measures affecting foreign-made drones and related tech. As a result, even non-drone products like the Osmo Pocket 4 are now caught in the same regulatory net.
DJI has pushed back, filing a lawsuit against the FCC and arguing that the decision lacks both proper procedure and evidence of security risks.
Just grab it and shoot. That’s it. That’s the whole process. 📸 Everything you just saw, straight out of Osmo Pocket 4.

What It Means for Creators
For now, it looks like the Osmo Pocket 4 won’t be officially available in the U.S.—at least not anytime soon. And given how long legal battles like this can take, that situation may not change quickly.
For creators who were planning to upgrade, that leaves a few alternatives. The Osmo Pocket 3 is still widely available and often discounted, and while the Pocket 4 brings improvements, it’s not a massive leap for more casual use.
There are also competing options in the same space, including upcoming models from other brands that could fill the gap if DJI’s latest remains unavailable.
Looking Ahead
The bigger question is how this affects DJI’s future product launches in the U.S. If the current restrictions remain in place, newer cameras and accessories could face similar delays or outright blocks.
For now, the Osmo Pocket 4’s absence in the U.S. highlights how regulatory decisions are starting to shape not just drones—but the broader camera market as well.
