Insta360 has officially begun teasing its next-generation flagship 360-degree action camera. The company has released a short teaser on X ahead of the August 12 launch of the Insta360 X6, while also announcing a giveaway where one lucky winner will receive an X6 Travel Bundle.
The teaser, captioned āRethink 360,ā hints at several major hardware upgrades and a redesigned body, suggesting the X6 will be the biggest leap forward in the X series in years.
Dual 1-Inch Sensors Lead the Upgrades
The most eye-catching detail in the teaser is the confirmation of dual 1-inch image sensors.
If accurate, this represents a significant upgrade over the dual 1/1.28-inch sensors found in the current Insta360 X5. Larger sensors generally capture more light, resulting in improved image quality, better dynamic range, and stronger low-light performance.
For action camera users, this could translate to cleaner nighttime footage, reduced image noise, and greater flexibility when shooting in challenging lighting conditions.
Something new. Dropping soon.

Dedicated AI Chip for Smarter Imaging
The teaser also confirms that the X6 will feature a dedicated AI processor.
While Insta360 has not revealed exactly what the chip will handle, it will likely improve both image processing and intelligent subject tracking.
Modern AI processors are capable of performing computational photography tasks in real time, including noise reduction, sharpening, chromatic aberration correction, diffraction correction, and color optimization. A dedicated processor could also improve low-light performance by combining multiple frames more efficiently.
AI is also expected to play a larger role in Insta360ās signature subject tracking and automatic reframing tools. With a more powerful processor, the X6 could deliver faster and more accurate tracking while making it easier to create polished videos during post-production.
Inspiration in Every Direction.
The all-new Insta360 X6, a decade in the making, is coming soon.

A More Compact Design
The teaser also reveals a noticeably shorter body design, bringing the X6 much closer in size to the DJI Osmo 360. The redesigned body moves the touchscreen directly beneath the rear camera module, while the record button, power button, speaker, and battery compartment have all been relocated to the side of the camera.
The more compact form factor should make the X6 easier to carry while maintaining the familiar dual-lens design of previous X-series cameras.
Faster 8K Recording Expected
Previous leaks suggest the X6 will support 8K video recording at up to 50 frames per second, a substantial improvement over the 8K30p capability of the X5.
The higher frame rate should allow smoother footage and greater flexibility for slow-motion playback while taking advantage of the upgraded sensors and new AI processor.
If the leaks prove accurate, the X6 will represent one of the most significant video upgrades in the history of Insta360ās flagship 360-degree camera lineup.
