The Insta360 Ace Pro 3 could be getting closer to launch, with leaked images appearing to show the next generation of the company’s Leica-branded action camera, alongside a possible glimpse at its specifications.

The images, which have yet to be officially authenticated, suggest Insta360 is preparing a successor to the Ace Pro 2. One screenshot, apparently taken from a regulatory information screen, identifies the device as the Insta360 Ace Pro 3 and lists a 2,250mAh battery. If accurate, that would represent a 25% increase in battery capacity compared with the Ace Pro 2’s 1,800mAh battery, although it wouldn’t necessarily translate into an equivalent improvement in recording time.

While longer battery life would certainly be welcome, there’s one upgrade we’d be particularly excited to see: better low-light video performance.
The existing Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is already well equipped for challenging lighting conditions. It features a 1/1.3-inch sensor, Leica optics, and a dedicated PureVideo mode that uses AI-assisted processing to improve footage captured in low light.
However, recording after dark remains a challenge for action cameras, particularly when the camera or subject is moving. Even with advanced processing, nighttime footage can suffer from noise, motion blur, and a loss of fine detail. Heavy noise reduction can also leave textures looking unnaturally smooth, making footage appear cleaner without necessarily preserving the detail photographers and videographers want.
That’s not a problem exclusive to Insta360, and the Ace Pro 2 already makes a considerable effort to address it. But it’s an area where further improvements could make a meaningful difference.
For the Ace Pro 3, we’d love to see cleaner nighttime footage that retains more natural detail, better control of bright highlights against dark backgrounds, and improved results when filming moving subjects. Those changes would be particularly useful for recording evening walks, nighttime city scenes and outdoor adventures where lighting conditions are far from ideal.
Of course, the leaked images don’t tell us whether Insta360 has made any improvements to the sensor or its image-processing technology. Until the company announces the camera, its imaging capabilities remain unknown. But with the Ace Pro 2 already offering 8K recording, we’d argue that better real-world image quality would be more valuable than simply pushing resolution even higher.
